How to apply a 3D wall sticker?

How you apply a 3D wall sticker directly shapes the final look and how long the design lasts. Poor preparation of the surface often makes a sticker peel off too early.

Preparing the wall

• Smooth, dry surface, with no textured plaster or heavy grain
• Paint fully dry, never fresh
• Clean with plain water, then let it dry completely before applying

Application steps

1. Mark the guide lines lightly in pencil using a spirit level
2. Peel back the top of the backing film
3. Line up the top of the sticker with the mark
4. Gradually peel off the rest of the film while smoothing with the squeegee
5. Work from the centre towards the edges to push out the air bubbles
6. Press the edges down firmly so the sticker holds well

Common mistakes to avoid

Never apply a 3D sticker to a freshly painted wall. Fresh paint stops the adhesive from bonding properly, and the sticker may peel off.

• Applying on an unprepared porous wall: risk of the edges lifting
• Applying in a cold room: the adhesive sticks less well
• Stretching the vinyl during application: permanent distortion of the design
• Rubbing directly with your fingers: visible fingerprints on dark areas
